Decanter centrifuges, also known as horizontal screw centrifuges, are advanced separation machines widely used across industries for their exceptional efficiency, reliability, and adaptability. Utilizing centrifugal force, these robust devices excel in separating solids from liquids or clarifying liquids with differing densities. Their unique design and operational advantages make them indispensable in sectors such as wastewater treatment, food processing, chemical manufacturing, and oil drilling.
The decanter centrifuge operates on a simple yet highly effective principle. The mixture to be separated is fed into a rotating bowl through an inlet pipe. As the bowl spins at high speeds (typically thousands of RPM), the centrifugal force generated pushes denser solids toward the bowl wall, while the lighter liquid phase forms an inner layer. A helical screw conveyor, rotating at a slightly different speed, continuously discharges the separated solids from one end, while the clarified liquid exits through the opposite end. This continuous, automated process ensures high throughput with minimal manual intervention.
